On 28 May 2026 at 17.30, the 10th meeting event for new residents of Ventspils will take place at KINO RIO cinema in Ventspils. The event is organised by the LIVIN Ventspils contact point. It is intended for new residents of Ventspils, families, and anyone who has recently moved to Ventspils, has already been living in the city for some time, or has returned to Latvia after a longer period abroad.
Since 2019, the meetings for new residents of Ventspils have become a warm-hearted tradition, bringing together people who have chosen Ventspils as their home. Previous events have particularly highlighted a sense of community, the creation of new contacts, and the opportunity to share experiences of life in the city with others.
This time, the meeting will take place at KINO RIO cinema — a venue with a special cinematic history in Ventspils. The cinema is located in the Old Town of Ventspils, at 28 Pils Street, where films have been screened for more than 100 years. Since 1997, the cinema has operated under its current name, KINO RIO.
During the event, participants will have the opportunity to watch an animated film together, take a look inside parts of KINO RIO that are usually not open to visitors, and meet the head of the LIVIN Ventspils contact point. During the meeting, participants will be able to ask questions about life in Ventspils — kindergartens, schools, finding housing, settling into the city, and other practical matters important to new residents.
The gathering will be complemented by conversations, a festive pretzel, popcorn and a drink, as well as a photo corner where participants will be able to capture moments from the event.
