On 11 June 2026, the Riga Neighbourhood Residents Centre invites Riga residents who have returned from abroad in recent years to a joint gathering at the annual event “Riga – My Home”. This year, the event will take place at the National Library of Latvia from 18.00 to 20.00. Before the event, participants will have the opportunity to join an informative guided tour of the library building. The tour will begin at 17.00.

Returning home is not only a joyful event, but also a new beginning, often accompanied by various practical and emotional challenges. Therefore, the event will offer an opportunity to meet like-minded people, share experiences, and learn about opportunities that can help returnees integrate more easily into city life after coming back.

The event will be opened by the Chairman of Riga City Council, Viesturs Kleinbergs. Participants will also be addressed by Daina Šulca, Remigration Coordinator of the Riga Planning Region, whose daily work is related to providing support to remigrants during the relocation process.

This year’s informative lecture will focus on promoting emotional well-being. Baiba Žiga, founder of “Impulsum”, work and culture strategist, and certified coach, will share her experience and knowledge on psycho-emotional burnout — how to recognise it, how not to confuse it with other emotional states, and how to find one’s own approach to overcoming it.

The second part of the event, titled “Becoming One of Us in Riga: A Guide to Opportunities”, will provide practical and useful information that can help participants settle into city life.

Mārtiņš Pakalniņš, Senior Project Manager at the Investment Attraction Division of the Investment Department of the Riga Investment and Tourism Agency (RITA), will present Riga Municipality’s diaspora support relocation programme. Daira Bite, Coordinator of the Imanta branch of the Riga Neighbourhood Residents Centre, will introduce the daily work of neighbourhood coordinators and the range of issues residents can address in the city by contacting the coordinator of their neighbourhood. Anna Lūse, Head of the association “With Global Experience in Latvia”, and Kaspars Gailītis, Board Member of the Riga Neighbourhood Alliance and Head of the Mežaparks Development Society, will share their experience of how participation in NGO events and active involvement in associations can help people meet like-minded individuals and develop a sense of belonging.

📌Registration for the event is open until 7 June by completing the application form HERE.

The event “Riga – My Home” will be organised by Riga Municipality for the seventh time. In total, nearly 250 remigrants and their families from various countries around the world have taken part in these events.
