For the third year, Riga Planning Region, together with the municipalities of Ādaži, Ķekava, Ropaži, and Salaspils, is implementing a grant programme to support entrepreneurship. The programme provides financial support in one of two ways: either to remigrants for starting their own business, or to existing companies for creating subsidised jobs for remigrants.

The aim of the competition is to provide financial support to a remigrant — a member of the diaspora who has returned or relocated from permanent residence abroad to permanent residence in Salaspils Municipality.

The competition applies to remigrants who have lived permanently abroad for at least two years and whose return or relocation to Latvia took place no more than two years ago.

Salaspils Municipality plans to support one remigrant business idea or one job created for the employment of a remigrant. The total amount of grant support is EUR 6,486.

Remigrants who establish their own company in one of these Pierīga municipalities will also be required to provide their own co-financing in order to receive the grant. This co-financing must be at least equal to the amount of public funding received.

For the creation of a new job for a remigrant in the respective municipality, a subsidy may be received if the position provides full-time employment with at least the average wage in the region or sector.

Within the framework of the competition, the grant funding may be used for the purchase of fixed assets, remuneration costs, and intangible investments. The project must be implemented within one year from the date of signing the agreement with the municipality.

Applications for remigrant projects in Salaspils Municipality may be submitted from 18 May 2026 to 30 June 2026, inclusive.

The project application, signed with a secure electronic signature, must be submitted electronically by sending it to dome@salaspils.lv with the subject line:
“Application for the competition ‘Remigration Support Measure – Return to Salaspils Municipality!’”
