On 25 and 26 August, Zemgale Planning Region invites participants to join the free online seminars “Returning and starting over: opportunities for parents and a school for the child”. Over two evenings, experts will provide practical advice on navigating professional changes after returning to Latvia and supporting children as they start school in a new environment. Although the seminars have been designed with the needs of returnee families, they are open to anyone interested in these topics.
Returning to Latvia after an extended period abroad often brings changes for the entire family. For parents, this may involve re-entering the labour market or changing careers, while children may face the challenges of starting at a new school, adapting to a new environment, and becoming part of a new peer group. The two online seminars will offer practical and up-to-date information, expert advice, and an opportunity for participants to ask questions. The seminars aim to provide returnee families with useful information about career opportunities for parents and children’s adaptation to school after returning to Latvia, as well as practical guidance for successfully navigating change and settling into a new environment.
On 25 August, from 18:00 to 19:00, Iveta Broliša will lead the seminar “Career Change – a Challenge or an Opportunity?” The session will focus on career transitions and the opportunities that may arise when embarking on a new stage of professional life.
On 26 August, from 18:00 to 19:00, Diāna Zande will lead the seminar “New School, New Environment: How to Help Your Child Adapt?” The session will focus on children’s adjustment to a new school and environment, as well as ways in which parents can support them during this period of change.
Both seminars will take place online, according to Latvian time, and participation is free of charge. Work language – Latvian. Advance registration is required by 24 August. A single registration form is available for both seminar dates, and participants should indicate which seminar they wish to attend. It is also possible to register for both sessions. At the end of each seminar, participants will have an opportunity to ask the experts questions.
“The seminars are primarily intended for returnees and their families, but participation is not limited to returnees only. Anyone interested in career change, professional transitions, or questions related to helping a child adapt to a new school and environment is welcome to join,” says Anete Briņeca, remigration coordinator.
