On Saturday, 9 May, the third meeting in the remigrant networking event series “Visiting Newcomers” took place in Katvari Parish, Limbaži Municipality. This time, participants visited the farm “Priedītes” and its owner Zane Magone, where they spent almost the entire day together in a warm and family-friendly atmosphere.

The event brought together more than 20 participants, including families with children from the Limbaži, Valmiera, Cēsis, and Valka areas. The children were especially delighted to spend time together, devoting much of the day to the animals living at the mini zoo. Participants had the opportunity to pet and feed horses, goats, sheep, rabbits, pigs, and other residents of the farm, with particular attention drawn to the cow Tīna and her calf, who followed the owner at every step.

During the event, three celebrations also took place — the birthdays of two children and the first birthday of the cow Tīna. The festive mood was complemented by cake, candles, and everyone singing “Daudz baltu dieniņu” together.

While the children played, enjoyed football, rode in a buggy, and got to know rural life, the adults shared their experiences of returning to Latvia and living abroad. Many participants had previously lived in England, so in the informal atmosphere, a sense of community and new acquaintances quickly developed.

The event series “Visiting Newcomers” continues to demonstrate how important an informal meeting environment is, where remigrants and their families can get to know one another, share experiences, and strengthen their sense of belonging to Vidzeme.
