To improve support for people who have returned to Latvia after living abroad, the Zemgale Planning Region invites return migrants to take part in a survey and share their experiences. The results will help to better understand the needs of return migrants and improve support measures for the reintegration process in the Zemgale region.
Return migration – the return of Latvian nationals and their family members to live and work in Latvia – is an important process in the context of the region’s and the country’s demographic development. Therefore, it is essential to understand the experiences of return migrants so that support measures are as practical as possible and address real needs.
Through this survey, the Zemgale Planning Region aims to identify the challenges return migrants have faced after returning to Latvia, as well as what kind of support would have been helpful or is still needed to facilitate their successful integration into the labour market, local community, and everyday life.
The survey is anonymous and takes approximately five minutes to complete. It is open to everyone who has returned from abroad in recent years and is living or planning to live in the Zemgale region.
The survey will be open until 31 July 2026.

The survey results will be compiled anonymously and used to develop proposals for improving support for return migrants in the Zemgale region. Every respondent’s experience is valuable, as it contributes to creating more targeted and effective support for people who have chosen to return to live and work in Latvia.
